Arkansas is considered a conservative state based on its recent voting patterns. The eastern side of Arkansas is more liberal than the west, and as usual, the urban cities are more liberal than the rural areas. As seen in the map, Trump dominated in Arkansas and the Republicans dominated other state offices. Arkansas has a large evangelical base meaning that Arkansans takes a very conservative approach to social issues such as gay marriage. I plan on supporting and standing with Arkansas in all social issues as well as other positions Arkansas feels passionate about.
As far as marijuana legalization goes, it is already underway in Arkansas. Just last election, the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment was passed making it legal to use marijuana for medicinal purposes.
One issue that is important to Arkansas is gun control. 58% of Arkansans own a gun ranking Arkansas as 2nd in the nation for gun ownership. It is important to Arkansas to keep their guns and loosen gun control laws. Arkansas is a very pro-gun state. I plan on protecting their guns and their rights according to the second amendment.
Arkansas also ranks 4th in unemployment and is the 2nd poorest state according to one study. This means that generally, Arkansans support lower taxes and access to health care. They also support raising the minimum wage. They are also likely to support social security as it benefits and supports many of the older people in Arkansas (which make up more than 15% of the population). Many Arkansans need a strong financial support and that's why they all support the creation of new jobs and of a more stable economy. As a representative of this state, I will try to make lives better for Arkansans by making their economy better and by supporting plans that will lower taxes, raise minimum wage, and provide affordable health care to these Arkansans.
Since Walmart Headquarters reside in Arkansas borders, Arkansas is pro-free trade. Walmart imports a lot of stuff from Asia and free trade is very important to its business. Eliminating free trade could hurt the economy in Arkansas drastically.
The education system also needs some fixing. Arkansas ranks 38th in the country for its schooling systems and has a high drop rate compared to other states. A reform in education is needed in Arkansas.
